The Clinical Study Of Acupuncturing Xi-Acupoints In The Treatment Of Sciatica

Objective: To observe the effects of accupuncture Xi-acupoints in the Treatment of Sciatica.Method: 74 patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.There were 37 patients in treatment group and the other 37 patients in control group.Patients in the control group were treated with the routine acupuncture method, while those in the treatment group received acupuncture Xi-acupoints. All patients were assessed before and after the treating period. The evaluating items included:(1)VAS, Visual Analog Scale(2) The 6-point Behavioral Rating Seale(3) Brief Pain Inventory-Short FormResults:1.Before and after the treatment to alleviate the pain level, to reduce the pain and numbness of the leg, decreased the score of the pain PRI, to improve the mood etc, all of these meet the statistically significant levels (P<0.05), and meaning the Xi-Acupoint of the acupuncture can relief the pain in the real statistically significance.2.When in the first treatment, the pain improvement and the acupuncture pain, all meet the statistical significant level (P<0.05), that meaning the needle of the Xi-Acupoint in the acupuncture is painful but improve the degree of the pain.3.To improve the quality of work and sleep were not reached the significantly level,that meaning the two groups have no significant difference.4. About the satisfaction of the patient, were reached the statistically significant level (P <0.05),the treatment and control groups were significantly different,but that is the first treatment of the patient have the lower satisfaction.5.Assessment of treatment efficacy, the treatment group:Invalid 2 (5.4%), improved 24 (64.9%) were cured,9 (24.3%), recovered 2 (5.4%). Invalid control group 2 (5.4%), improved 20 (54.1%) were cured,12 (32.4%), recovered 3 (8.1%). Not reach significant levels (P >0.05). That meaning these two groups have no significant difference in the effects assess.Conclusion:The Xi-Acupoint of the Yin meridians can treat the blood retention, the Xi-Acupoint of the Yang meridians can treat the acute pain. The Xi-Acupoint use to treat along the line by the respective organs of the acute sites and evidence for the clinic. In this study, The Xi-Acupoint were verified effects to treat the sciatic pain. The Xi-Acupoint of the acupuncture is painful, but the effect is better to relieve the pain, but the early treatment phenomenon of patients have poor response, and the satisfaction were decreasing.
