Objective: To study the expressions of CD44v5,RECK and c-met in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and adjacent non-carcinomatous esophageal tissues of Uygur, Kazakh and Han nationality in Xinjiang. Methods: To detect the expression of CD44v5, RECK and c-met by RT-PCR in 90 cases of esophageal carcinoma tissues (30 of Uygur, 30 of Kazakh and 30 of Han), and adjacent non-carcinomatous esophageal tissues. Results: 1. The expression of CD44v5: The expression positive rates of CD44v5 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent non-carcinoma tissues were 88.89% and 88.89% respectively. The expression level of CD44v5 in the group with metastasis of lymph node(0.814±0.261) was significantly higher than that without lymph node metastasis(0.666±0.307) (P=0.017). There was no statistic significance difference between the expression level of carcinoma tissues and adjacent non-carcinoma tissues of CD44v5(P=0.252).The expression of CD44v5 showed no apparent relationship with the clinicopathological factors including TNM Staging, grade of differentiated and degree of infiltrate (P>0.05). 2. The expression of RECK: The expression positive rates of RECK in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent non-carcinoma tissues were 38.89% and 38.89% respectively. The expression level of RECK in esophageal carcinoma tissues(0.490±0.187) was significantly lower than that in adjacent non-carcinoma tissues (0.563±0.207)(P=0.000). The expression level of RECK in the group of T1+T2 (0.581±0.202) was significantly higher than T3+T4 (0.469±0.178) (P=0.024); the expression level of RECK in the group ofⅠ+Ⅱa(0.5682±0.22077) was significantly higher than T3+T4 (0.460±0.164) (P=0.033). The expression of RECK showed no apparent relationship with the clinicopathological factors including grade of differentiated and lymphatic metastasis(P>0.05). 3. The expression of c-met: The expression positive rates of c-met in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent non-carcinoma tissues were 97.78% and 98.89% respectively. The expression level of c-met in esophageal carcinoma tissues (1.174±0.372) was significantly higher than that in adjacent non-carcinoma tissues(0.968±0.360)(P=0.000). The expression level of c-met in the group of T1+T2(1.004±0.259) was significantly lower than T3+T4 (1.214±0.385) (P=0.036). The expression of c-met showed no apparent relationship with the clinicopathological factors including grade of differentiated, TNM Staging and lymphatic metastasis(P>0.05). 4. The expression of CD44v5, RECK and c-met in diffirent nationalities: There was no statistic significance differences among three nationalities of the expression of CD44v5, RECK and c-met(P>0.05). 5. The expression relationship with CD44v5, RECK and c-met in ESCC: There was no correlation with the expression of CD44v5, RECK and c-met in ESCC(P>0.05). Conclusion: 1. The high-expression of c-met and the low-expression of RECK play a role in the carcinogenesis of ESCC respectively. 2. There is the correlation between the metastasis of lymph node and the high-expression of CD44v5. 3. The low-expression of RECK play a role in the local infiltration and TNM Staging of ESCC. 4. The high-expression of c-met play a role in the local infiltration of ESCC. 5. There were no statistic significance differences in the three nationalities of the abnormal expression of CD44v5, c-met and RECK. 6. There was no correlation between the expression of CD44v5, c-met and RECK in ESCC.
