OBJECTIVE To observe the expression and clinical implication of estrogen receptors, progestogen receptors and CerbB-2 in tumors and surrounding tissues of breast.METHODS (1)Sample Collect 36 benign and 40 malignancy samples of breast resected in the Breast and Thyroid Surgery Department of Peking University ShenZhen Hospital. The tumor tissues and tissues 2cm out of tumor are collected. For breast conserving therapy, non neoplastic tissues 2cm near the tumor are needed.(2)Method By S-P of immuno- histochemical method after Paraffin wax.(3)Content To analyze the relationship between breast tumors and surrounding tissues of estrogen receptors, progestogen receptors and CerbB-2 expression.RESULTS(1)The expression of ER in normal breast tissues, pure hyperplastic lesions, atypical hyperplastic lisions and breast cancer is 86.4%,94.1%,66.7%,51.2%.(P >0.005)(2)The expression of PR in normal breast tissues, pure hyperplastic lesions, atypical hyperplastic lisions and breast cancer is 84.1%, 100%, 66.7%, 48.8%.(P=0.001)(3)The expression of ER(+)and/or PR(+) in normal breast tissues, pure hyperplastic lesions, atypical hyperplastic lisions, fibroadenoma and breast cancer is 97.7%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 53.6%. ER(+) and/or PR(+)expression is significant different comparing each group to breast cancer group(.4)The expression of ER(+) and/or PR(+) in breast cancer and tissues 2cm out of tumors is 52.5%, 87.5%.(P=0.001)(5)There is no overexpression of CerbB-2 in normal breast tissues, pure hyperplastic lesions or atypical hyperplastic lisions. In breast cancer, the expression is 20.0%.(6)CerbB-2 expression in breast cancer is 33.3%. Tissues 2cm near tumors or out of tumors do not overexpress CerbB-2. CONCLUSIONS (1) The expression of ER and PR could be different between tumors and surrounding tissues. When ER positive and/or PR positive in surrounding tissues,an endocrine therapy is needed. (2) Women with benign breast biopsies demonstrating both HER-2/neu amplification and aproliferative histopathologic diagnosis may be at substantially increased risk for subsequent breast cancer. Detecting CerbB-2 expression of surrounding tissues in ipsilateral breast is necessary for breast coserving theary patients to assess the recurrence risk.
