There are three important factors that affect listening comprehension, that is, frequencies of keywords, sentence tense and presentation. Select a certain amount of university students as the experiment subjects, They are all from non-English majors and the listening comprehension scores are between 85 to 90 in CET-4. In this experiment, the subjects were presented a variety of English sentences. We will use the experiment to verify what the role of these three independent variables played in English Listening Comprehension. The first independent variable is the presentation. There are five kinds of experimental presentation: Visual presentation, Auditory presentation, Synchronous audio-visual presentation, and Asynchronous audio-visual presentations. The second independent variable is the sentence tense. Sentence tense includes four types: the present tense, the past tense, the future tense and the present continuous tense. The third independent variable is the frequencies of keywords. And the keywords are divided into two types: high-frequency words and uncommon words.Experimental results show: (1) When the sentences were the same, subjects'scores in Synchronous audio-visual presentation were significantly higher than the other four presentations. The following were Asynchronous audio-visual presentations and Visual presentation. Auditory presentation was the last one. (2) When the presentation and the key words of the word frequency were the same, subjects'scores in the present tense and the past tense were significantly higher than its scores in the future tense and the present continuous tense. (3) When the presentation and the sentence tense were the same, high frequency words were significantly better than uncommon words in understanding the meaning of the sentence.
