Whether the expressions are clear and appropriate is one of the important criterions of judging an excellent children's picture book. It's also an intensive manifestation of the ideas and purposes of the author. The research on the ideogram of children's picture books can make the books of this pattern show their aesthetic connotations and promote the communication between the author who is the deliverer of the ideas and the children readers who are the receivers of the ideas. And on the other hand, the research can also guide the practice of creating children's picture books in return, and make the creator demonstrate his purposes and aesthetic flavors more appropriately for creating successful children's picture books.First of all, we are to analyze the differences and connections between picture books and other picture books in this paper, proceeding from the basic concepts of children, picture books, ideogram and ideographic symbols. Then, we also do a scientific analysis on the ideographic tools of picture books on the basis of the definitions of concepts and areas of children's picture books. Eventually, we get the ideogram mainly through character language and symbol language.Secondly, because of the particularity that the receivers of the ideas in children's picture books are mostly children, the character language and symbol language, as ideographic tools, have their own peculiarities in children's picture books. The study on the peculiarities of ideographic tools in children's picture books can help instruct the practice of creating children's picture books and avoid failures of false expressions because of the inappropriate use of ideographic tools.Thirdly, different ideographic tools have different ideographic functions, so their effects are distinct in different picture books or contents. In this thesis, we analyze on the functions of the ideographic tools and their ideographic effects, and also make comparisons, in terms of different stages of children's picture books, distinct sides of role picture books and the author's purposes and abstract emotions. The study is constructive and significant for instructing to choose the most reasonable and appropriate ideographic tools, promoting the contents of children's picture books to be rich and colorful, increasing the own interest and entertainment of picture books, and creating excellent children's picture books.At last, we summarize and analyze the merits and deficiencies of the thesis, and set the direction for the further study in the future.
