One hundred years or so when Chinese people were being through the straitened national disaster, the painting barely reached that country. Conforming to the contemporary mainstream, the development of Chinese painting inevitably went to the realism; while the lyricism combining fabulous Chinese traditional culture set its feet on the tough road of artistic revolution alone. As Chinese art has experienced the reflection on the'tradition'as well as'modern', and then went back to the senses, painters widely believed that both tradition and fashion should be conveyed during the creativity of painting. Under such kind of circumstance,'freehand brushwork', without a doubt, broke through the narrow scale of Chinese traditional ink painting, becoming the very direction of localization. At the time the western art obtained Neo-expressionism, the dramatic divergence on the outlooks of universe between eastern and western worlds was seemingly dissolved by the spiritual expression. And the paintings with it were the well-mannered kid of the blend of Chinese and western art., then we may wonder where his good quality comes from? Of course, on one hand it's the result of prominent Chinese traditional culture; on the other hand, it's the consequence of the rich painting languages in the western art. Through freehand brushwork, paintings can own the appearance differing from western art and the style distinctive from Chinese classic paintings. It mingled the beauty of form in the western art with the unique Chinese atheistic as well as the ink painting spirit in the aim of creating the virtual space, the intuitive colors and the concise modeling to convey the poetic imagery of Chinese ink painting. Now as we are going towards the whole world, freehand brushwork paintings have been gradually becoming the ID card of Chinese paintings.
