“Gong”(Fine Brushwork) and “Xie”(Freehand Brushwork) is a pair of corresponding concepts in Chinese painting’s history and the long history of Chinese painting gives each of them rich contents respectively. This paper aims to analysis the developing process of Fine Brushwork and Freehand Brushwork in the Flower‐and‐Bire painting, through the author’s knowledge and practice in Chinese painting, on the basis of reading Selected Articles of Ancient Chinese Painting Theories.And combined with their own creative practice, talking about the understanding and experience of the “Gong”(Fine Brushwork) and “Xie”(Freehand Brushwork).
