With a profound history, Linyi City is one of the important birthplaces of Chinesecivilization. As early as four or five hundred thousand years ago, human ancestors createdancient civilization on this land where the ancient Linyi stands for over 2400 years. on thisvibrant land, this historical ancient city is rising rapidly with high spirit and a brand-newoutlook, and its development achievements are unbelievably marvelous. With the aim ofbuilding a city on culture and of culture, Linyi City has made great strides forward in the fieldof culture. Literary and artistic creation is increasingly prosperous and high-quality andexcellent works with literary styles and themes are emerging unceasingly. Consequently, theliterary and artistic prosperity has improved and enriched people's cultural life, and .thecultural stage instinct with Linyi people's wisdom becomes increasingly broad. With thedevelopment of urban culture and improvement of the civic cultural quality, a cultural Linyi isglowing with brilliance, the flower of the music is gradually in full bloom on Yimeng landand piano music is penetrating into people's cultural life and enjoys a vigorous development.Since Linyi City owns a solid cultural tradition, and reflects to some extent the culture andideology in most part of east China, Linyi City is highly representative on terms of pianomusic. Therefore research and analysis of the piano music education in Linyi City can helpget a rough idea of the development of piano music in east China, which is of foundationalimportance to the research of music development in this area.So far, in Linyi city, no systematic study has been carried out on the development ofpiano music education in any academic field, and there are few discourses about it. In order tohave a better and clearer understanding of it, the writer does many field researches, who paysvisits to all kinds of religious groups and schools from primary ones to universities. At thesame time, the writer carries out a series of exclusive interviews to many people. Based onLinyi city's social history and the musical culture, with the help of historical methods,ethnomusicology angle and many other reference materials, the writer compares the development of piano music in different stages, combs out a development vein of the pianomusic across the board in Linyi City, studies the piano music education with Linyicharacteristic and probes into the position of piano music education and its contributions tothe development of musical culture in Linyi City .This paper introduces the development of piano music education in Linyi City from thefollowing aspects. Chapter one focuses on the origins of piano music and its education inLinyi City. Chapter two tells about the school education of piano music in Linyi City rangingfrom 1949 to 2009, including its evolution and maturation period. In this chapter, focusing onthe school education of piano music in normal schools, primal schools, middle schools and artschools, the writer analyses the development conditions and characteristics of piano musiceducation in such different kinds of schools. Chapter three is for the development in amateurpiano music education in Linyi City, which tells about its current situation and social activitiesfrom the aspects of non-government schools and competitions and so forth. Chapter fourmainly manifests the creation and adaptation of piano teaching materials and other pianoworks in Linyi city. Chapter five focuses on consideration about the development of pianomusic education in Linyi City, consisting analysis of the current situation and strategiesneeded in its future development.To sum up, the writer comprehensively views the development of Linyi piano musiceducation as a whole by trying to analyze and study historical stages which have definitedirectivity and uniqueness one by one. Besides, by investigating the history and musical lifein a specific period, the writer reconsiders the relationship between the history, society and themusic development in Linyi. All in all, the writer studies the piano music development inLinyi city via historical textual research and the relationship between music and history viacultural aspect. Under the principle of seeking truth from facts, the writer analyzes the pianomusic education development in Linyi from both horizontal and vertical aspects.
