WangMeng is a very important writer in Chinese contemporary literary world. His sixteen-year living in Xinjiang was a turning point in his life and writing, as well as a painful and leisurely experience. This essay is trying to research "WangMeng and Xinjiang" on a whole in order to show the relationship between them more completely, and to open up a new perspective and field of vision. The essay consists of three parts namely the introduction, the main part and the conclusion. The introduction briefly sorts out the present research of "WangMeng and Xinjiang". The past research can be divided into several stages with an interval of ten years from single work study to comprehensive studies. Generally speaking, there is a shortage of research and essays on this topic and it needs studying more deeply. The main part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is to show WangMeng's experiences in Xinjiang by "Before Departure", "Free Time in Yili" and "In'5.7'Cadre's School and Before Reappearance". This part shows WangMeng's life track in a more complete way through some face-to-face interviews and the latest contents in WangMeng's autobiography. The second chapter is "WangMeng's Writings on Xinjiang". It firstly analyzes and evaluates different stages and features of WangMeng's whole works about Xinjiang, and then shows the connotation of the "Xinjiang world" made by WangMeng's Xinjiang works. The last part's focal point of discussion is intellectual's unforgettable experiences and thoughts in remote place especially the optimistic spirit of WangMeng's. The third chapter is "The Meaning of Xinjiang to WangMeng". It is about how Xinjiang makes a deep influence on WangMeng's outlook on life. His life in Xinjiang has changed his sentimentality, and turned his life from idealism to realism, turned his idea on literature from monochrome to variegate. The last part is the conclusion.
