Olivier Messiaen is one of the most important composer. His music language creates new style and character; his skill of music that become a new school is original and special and become a new genre; his works are abundant in meaning with profound philosophy. Messiaen composed large numbers of works in his life that refer to almost all of the genre of music. In his creation, the religious works hold a important status. The piano work Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus is one of most improtant work in his early period.This text use'theme'as stand, based on technique and theory of himself, with other methods of analyse and exisiting productions to research the use of theme in Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus, try to reveal the musical connotation of this work.The full text is divided into four parts: the frist part clarify the reason of choice, the method of research, the meaning of research and the actuality of research at home and abroad; the second part mainly introduce the life of Messiaen and his important works, and explain the connection between them and Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus; the third part clarify Messiaen's main technique of compositon and introduce Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus with details. Then these themes of the work are analysed in these aspects of profile, melody, harmony and mode of limited transposition, researching the connection and application of these themes in the work; the forth part evaluate Messiaen and Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus and summarzie the connection and application of these themes.
