David Herbert Lawrence is regarded as one of the most creative and controversial writers of the early twenty century. Most of his works attract scholars and reporters'attention and their comments. Lady Chatterley's Lover becomes the most controversial novel because it involves bold sexual-intercourse descriptions. In his short life, Lawrence speaks highly of the natural beauty of nature in his works. He tries his best to seek harmonious social life and spiritual life and critisizes the bad influence of modem industrial civilization, hoping to call on the world to protect the ecological environment, and help people return the nature harmonious society. This paper has discussed the development and connotation of ecocriticism and analyzed the works systematically from the perspective of natural ecology, social ecology and spiritual ecology. It has also appreciated the beauty and harmony of the nature and the natural attraction to Connie, criticized the civilisation and the civilized men, and analyzed sex, marital and spiritual ecological concept, and thus revealed Lawrence's attitude to life:people should return to nature. Lawrence impractically wishes to follow the life instinct and satisfy the instinct of the desire, so as to establish the ideal "new civilization", which contains humanistic feelings and humanitarian spirit, and thus has its positive significance.
