The Comparative Study Between Dream Of The Red Chamber And The Tale Of Genji In Social Gender Perspective

Based on the gender conception.the paper makes an analysis and research to the consciousness and the characteristics of gender in the two great classic literary works--- The Tale of Genji in Japan and Dream of the Red Chamber in China. Compapring to the underlying causes of the different conceptions by the gender, the author wants to reflect the various meanings of culture in Chinese and Japanese aesthetic viewpoints of ancient literature in order to make the culture of gender more systematic and theoretical.This thesis falls into seven chapters:The first chapter is prologue,giving the introduction to the current situation of this research,the significance of the thesis, and the creative viewpoints.The second chapter combines to the fictions to interpret the important figures,summing up the characteristics of the male and female of the gender conceptions and the similar and the different consciousness of gender in the two works. In the next, it will make a deep research to the internal causes of the different sexual conceptions. In chapter four, Analysizing the double temperament, the paper embodies the contradiction and the consistency of the balanced structure that the writers unconsciously go for in the male and the female.It is a new point of view to explore the literature of gender that we investigate the existing trend to subvert the traditional and single conception of gender. In chapter five,it will link the gender to the aesthesis and the culture, By learning the aesthetic features of the gender and its cultural spirit which express in the two fictions, readers can have a deeper understanding of the gender culture and the aesthetic connotations from the works. The next chapter is to discuss the fictions'shortcomings.The last part is the conclusion. Sublime for male and mellow for female are still the mainstreaming of the culture of the gender in the coming future, but this evaluation of gender should be based on the equlity of respect and communication between men and women, admitting the besexual differenceBy analysizing the gender consciousness of the works written by Cao Xueqin and Murasaki Shikibu, we feel like promoting the weak status of the women' culture in men'superior culture and pioneering the cultural ideal of double temperament in order to achieve the pluralism and modernization of the conception of aesthetics,making the male and female reach the harmony and consistency.
