Through literature review, field visits, market research, information collection and analysis of images'data, this article studies innovative marketing tendency of teapots'design, by giving examples of purple clay teapots and Nixin ceramics. The purple clay teapots are discussed together with Nixin ceramics, and unique insights are obtained through comprehensive study that teapots'design has to be based on market, people-oriented and innovated by inheritance from tradition to make a breakthrough towards the direction of modern ceramics.Pots are crystallization and materialization of human civilization presented. Each design and innovation of pots is decided by market, while production of each pot is a realization of human's hope. From the ancient Chinese thought of design, "every object should serve the people" to the modern concept, "people-oriented to develop innovative design", the use of pots made for man has been stressed. Either daily objects or works of art are to serve the people and to meet the needs of human. Teapots have been passed down, innovated and improved, from generation to generation in five hundred years of enduring market economy, so it is a successful example in folk art market, which shows that pots are products of market, in turn, demands of market contribute to the rise and fall of art. Pots are traditional, which must be the tradition of innovation.From the perspective of art market research, this article studies the relationship between innovative design of pots and market. Teapots are goods in the market. It is why technologists making teapots have to take notice of aesthetic orientation and people'needs, making sure of their work's acceptance by consumers, in order to make their work the best-sellers. Free mechanism of consuming will show consumers'needs, in turn, people can also react on pots styles. This article attempts to analyze the marketable trend of design improvement on teapots, by giving an example of the development of Yixing and Nixing pottery and the reason for purple clay teapot enjoying a great popularity at home and abroad.This article is intended to appreciate the quaint molding in profound culture of teapots, taste fragrance stored in the teapot and dig connotation of teapots inherited from antique continued for nearly thousands of years.
