After World War II, Southeast Asia launched a spectacular national liberation movement. "August Revolution" had took place in Indonesia in August 17,1945, when Sukarno and Hatta declared Indonesian independence and established the Republic of Indonesia. The outbreak of the revolution caused widespread concern in the international community. according to their own interests, the Great Britain, Soviet, America, Japan, made respective response. As the original ruler of the Netherlands East Indies (NEI), the Dutch launched two Police Actives on July 20,1947 and December 19,1948 to overthrow the Republic of Indonesia and restore the rule of NEI, but fail.As Indonesia's biggest neighbor, Australia played an important role in the course of Indonesian independence. In the initial stage of independence, the Australian attitude on the Indonesian independence is neutral. But after 1947, Australia started to support the Republic of Indonesia. this attitude didn't only help indonesia Increase strength, but also had a positive effect on the independent diplomacy, Policies of Accord and the relations between Australia and indonesia.
