New Year's pictures, representing the local preferences and cultural backgrounds because of the area differences, are a kind of popular folk print. Although in some areas they are full of local color and simply made which can't compare with the works of the four major producing areas, it does not matter because they satisfy the local need and enjoy the local folk art style. The Wood-block New Year pictures in Zhangzhou mentioned in this paper date from the Song Dynasty and were developed in the Ming Dynasty and then peaked in the Qing Dynasty. These Wood-block New Year pictures mainly spread in Xiangcheng of Zhangzhou, Minnan and Lingnan areas. They are even exported to Taiwan. The various folk activities and customs in Hong Kong and South Asia are the fundamentals of their existing and development. As an excellent folk art culture, they are rooted and cultivated in Taiwan with the immigration of habitants in Minnan in the Ming and Qing Dynasty. From content to form, they are related closely to local people's daily lives. Widely used in folk customs, festivals, weddings, funerals and entertainment activities in daily life, they are deeply rooted in regional culture.The discussion about their cultural origins and variation tend to trace the original, promote the national cultural identity between Fujian and Taiwan and have a research on the Wood-block New Year pictures industry of Yan's family's. Due to some complex historical factors and heritors' fault, the version determination of Zhangzhou Wood-block New Year pictures are not discussed in this paper. The paper mainly focuses on related studies according to their unique regional culture (Minnan Culture).
