Family Liu Band, in Yongcheng Town, Qijiang Country, Chongqing City, is a filiation of Bayu Piping and Drumming Music. It was founded in Xiaogan Xiniuping of Hubei province between Ming and Qing Dynasty. Liu Jishu who was the seventh heritor took it to Wansheng of Chongqing City, but the thirteenth heritor transferred to Qijiang Country since which it is about 520 years. Because of environment and many other matters, the survival and developing condition is not good. The local government and cultural ministry paid more attention to Yongcheng Piping and Drumming Music after it was embodied as the first group of national immaterial cultural heritages in 2006. They carried on protection and support which affected. In this paper, I research and analyze with the theory and method of national musicology by setting Family Liu Band an example. Through describing and analyzing the evolvement of music construction, developing inheritance, inside operational mechanism and survival place in modern society, we search its economic connection and survival condition in modern society and developing inheritance which is dependent on the market mechanism. The survival condition of Family Liu Band symbolizes not only the continuation and heritance of traditional funeral customs in different places of Chongqing, but also the development of consuetudinary culture in both city and country. The more than five-hundred-years' history of heritance and development is a main embodiment of the heritors giving full play to subjective activity and managing flexibly according to the market demand.
