Discussion On Chinese Line Drawing

Chinese line drawing, a Chinese traditional form of painting art, is one independent painting division, but also one of the steps of Chinese coloring painting. It is the most intuitive and honest performance of the "line" in all Chinese painting forms. Line drawing is one of the basic skills of Chinese painting. To in-depth study of the features of line drawing, can give a better awareness and understanding of the traditional ideas of "line" in Chinese painting, a improvement of the subjective consciousness of modeling with "line", a formation of the unique concept of individual of drawing lines, and a practical ability to master the use of "line". This paper describes the development of the origins of Chinese line drawing, on behalf of artists and good works; analyses the basic concepts by the means of "line" shape. Also discusses the dialectical relationship between the two visual image of "black" and "white" formed by lines in the picture; the relationship between morphological characteristics of the performance of the line style and performance targets; the relationship between the line organization and the screen space. In this article, the arts feature of calligraphy inherited by the lines outline with brushes under the guidance of thought that calligraphy and painting have the same methods; the line of emotional expression; and the development and re-creation of lines and the relationship between tradition and life aspects, are introduced. With the personal experience in the process of learning, creating Chinese line drawing, author try to find the development of the inner source of power of Chinese line drawing to guide painting practice, use this distinctive characteristics traditional art language to show understanding of contemporary artists on the line, the love of life, and final promote innovation and progress of Chinese line drawing.
