On Aesthetic Representation In Literary Translation Under The Perspective Of Creative Treason

In the long history of translation, faithfulness is always considered to be the highest criterion for measuring the quality of translation. However, with the culture turn in the 1970s, creative treason has drawn many translation researchers attention. Professor Xie Tianzhen is the first person who introduces it into China and makes a deep explanation on this concept, which opens a totally new angle for our translation research.Based on creative treason and translation aesthetics, this thesis attempts to explore the aesthetic representation in literary translation from the perspective of the subjectivity in translation with cases on poetry translation. The addition of the theory of creative treason enriches translation acsthetics, and the translator achieves the goal of deepening the faithfulness to source language and the aesthetic representation in literary translation.In recent years, the subjectivity and inter-subjectivity of the translator has attracted more and more attention in the field of translation, and meanwhile the introduction of creative treason has pushed the issue of subjectivity into a new high level. This thesis is based on the comparison between theories of creative treason and translation aesthetics, and gives interpretation of the concepts of subjects in translation, and puts forward that the translator, the reader and reception contexts are the subjects in translation, which enriches the theory of translation aesthetics. The combination of translation aesthetics and creative treason in literary translation can better develop the subjectivity in literary translation, and only in this way can aesthetics be represented in literary translation. Apart from the comparison of two theories, there are some proper examples to provide a new angle for scholars to make a comprehensive research. Moreover, the combination of creative treason and translation aesthetics is not a kind of treason. On the contrary, it is a way of the translator to reach the faithfulness at a higher level.
