This thesis is devoted to the research of C-E tourism translation from the perspective of interpretive theory. Firstly, the author reviews the achievements of C-E tourism translation in recent years, so as to conduct a theoretical analysis to the previous studies in terms of their advantages and disadvantages in different perspectives. Secondly, the author conducts a systematic review of interpretive theory advocated by the France Paris School and a detailed analysis of tourism text, including its definition, classifications and functions, from which the author concludes that interpretive theory is applicable to guide the C-E tourism translation. Thirdly, the author does a comparative study between Chinese and English tourism text from the aspects of language styles and cultural differences, and points out that translators should have the awareness of intercultural communication and the author further explicates the problems which should be paid attention to during translation. Therefore, readability and acceptability of the translation are very important, which requires that the translation should be target reader-oriented and conform to the expression of the target readers. However, due to the great difference between Chinese and Western culture, the translation should not rigidly adhere to the form of language, or not only can the communication not be fulfilled, but also it may spoil the image of our country. This thesis adopts interpretive theory as the guiding theory of C-E tourism translation, and its unique translation procedure "deverbalization" can solve this problem and ensure the translation to be idiomatic to the readers. At last, based on the differences of Chinese and English tourism text discussed above, as well as the purposes and functions of C-E tourism translation, the translation strategy------"domestication dominated, foreignization subordinated" has been put forward in order to narrow these differences. This thesis mainly adopts the translation methods like transliteration plus explanation, amplification, omission, analogy and rewriting in dealing with specific translation problems, to achieve the best communicative effect. According to the research, interpretive theory is applicable in guiding C-E translation of tourism texts.
