The application awareness of Chinese Traditional Painting in animation can trace back from the strange stories from a Chinese studio by Pu Songling of the Qing Dynasty instead of baby tadpoles look for their mother, which regarded as the first Ink Animation in china. Recorded history about the prototype of Ink Animation can be easily found in vivid descriptions of objects in motion from the stories of the painted skin,the painted horse and the painted wall . Ink Animation shakes the whole animation kingdom, because it realizes a breakthrough from static ink to dynamic painting, and marks the milestone in Chinese culture and art. Chinese Ink Animation step up into international animation stage in 1950s and 1960s. It is a time that national style reaches maturity. Meanwhile, Chinese Ink Animation has gained worldwide reputation, and is regarded as a miracle by Japanese animation field.This paper mainly discusses about the role Chinese Traditional Painting plays in the development of Ink Animation systematically. This paper can be divided into five parts: the first part introduces Ink Animation from culture background and politic background. Animation is western art. With the development of technical innovation in China, the leader of Shanghai Animation Film Studio called for"national style"tried to make picture Ink Animation, which achieved great success. The second part mainly introduces artistic feature of Ink Animation through the relationship between Ink Animation and traditional Chinese Traditional Painting master, such as Qi BaiShi, Cheng ShiFa, Wu ShanMing, etc. Animations adapted from these great masters'painting works extended Chinese Traditional Paintings'influence. Ink Animation breaks through traditional manufacturing methods, and has diversified forms. It can combine with paper-cutting or three-dimensional Application Software to make better effect. During EXPO 2010, three-dimensional animation "Qingming Riverside Scene" is a new form of Ink Animation, which vividly reproduced the prosperity scene at ordinary times in Northern Song Dynasty. The third part elaborates Chinese characteristics of Ink Animation from two aspects: oriental aesthetics and the dissemination of Chinese traditional culture and art. The reason of success about Ink Animation is that it abandons old manufacturing methods. The new expression about color and line combining with touching emotion embodies traditional Chinese beauty and national style completely.The fourth part makes a complete discuss about present state of Ink Animation and discusses prospect of the development of Ink Animation in innovation direction, animation derivatives and marketing.The techniques and styles of traditional Chinese Ink Animation have created a new animation form. Though influenced by western culture, the national folk culture has rooted in Chinese traditional way of life, and lives on "tradition". Folk stories are usual topic in traditional art. Now as the country becoming stronger, Chinese art is so important that some western animation industry adopted many folk stories as material. Under this circumstance, Chinese people should create our own animation image. Ink Animation also should combine with modern Ink Animation style to keep up with the time. Only those images with real Chinese characteristics can touch heart. While Chinese Traditional Painting-guided Ink Animation represents Chinese excellent animation, it is not only in accordance with oriental aesthetic, but also has mission to disseminate traditional Chinese art.
