Social withdrawal behavior is one of the most important topics in psychological and pedagogic research. A significant body of research indicates that children lacking of experiences in social interaction which affects children's development vitally have recent and long term adaptation problem. Hence, more and more researchers, aiming at finding and providing effective ways for the prevention and intervention of social withdrawal behavior in children of 4~5 years, are exploring the features and affecting factors of children's social withdrawal behavior. In view of this, this study investigates the basic features of children's social withdrawal behavior and its relations with self-perception and parent-child attachment. In the 1st study, Social Withdrawal Behavior Questionnaire for Children of 4~5 Years was developed on the basis of open questionnaire survey and interviews. The questionnaire includes19 items, including of 3 dimensions: circumstances, behavior and adaptation. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire is acceptable in psychometrics. In the 2nd study, 230 children's parents and 40 children of 4~5 years were asked to complete 3 questionnaires separately. In the study,we investigated the relationship among pre-school children's social withdrawal behavior, self-perception and parent-child attachment.Through the above two studies, we achieve the following results:1 The Pre-school Children's Social Withdrawal Behavior Questionnaire has good reliability and validity.2 There exists significant difference among the dimensions of parent-child attachment, self-perception and pre-school children's social withdrawal behavior. The three dimensions and total score of the social withdrawal behavior in children of 4~5years are positively related to all of the dimensions of self-perception and parent-child attachment.3 Parent-child attachment and self-perception can predict the social withdrawal behavior in children of 4~5 years.4 Parent-child attachment has both direct and indirect influences towards social withdrawal behaviors in children of 4~5 years. Self-perception partially mediated the relation of parent-child attachment and the social withdrawal behavior in children of 4~5 years.
