For a long time, along with the deepening of cognitive research, cross-modal research has become the focus concern of psychological science. This study adopts Posner's(1980) classic exogenous clues experimental paradigms. The subjects are 90 primary students whose intelligency, visual ability is normal and who are right-handed, inspecting how audio-visual space clues affect the elementary student's visual selective attention from visual, auditory effectively, visual, auditory invalid effective aspects.According to the research tasks, this thesis is divided into three parts. The first research is inspecting competition of visual and auditory clues in elementary students'visual space selective attention, and reviewing the difference between each grade from the vision valid, vision invalid, auditory valid, auditory invalid in nonpredicive clue cues which is all clues are randomly appeared, the frequency of valid clue and invalid clues accounts for 50%. The second research is inspecting competition of visual and auditory clues in elementary students'visual space selective attention, and reviewing the difference between each grade from the vision valid, vision invalid, auditory valid, auditory invalid in nonpredicive clue cues which is auditory cues are randomly appeared, the frequency of visual valid cue accounts for 80%. The third research is inspecting competition of visual and auditory clues in elementary students'visual space selective attention, and reviewing the difference between each grade from the vision valid, vision invalid, auditory valid, auditory invalid in nonpredicive clue cues which is visual cues are randomly appeared, the frequency of auditory valid cue accounts for 80%.Through the above three research, four findings are obtained:(1) In the nonpredictive clue cues, when the two predictive clues including auditory cue and visual cue random present, the pupils'visual and auditory capture can be observed.(2) In the predictive clue cues of visual clue cues, when highly predictive visual effective clues has been increased to 80%, only pupils'visual capture can be observed not auditory capture.(3) In the predictive clue cues of audual cues, when highly predictive auditory effective clues has been increased to 80%, the elementary student's auditory clues can't stop visual capture, still pupils'visual capture can be observed.(4)In the task of visual selective attention, when visual and audual cues are taken on simultaniously, visual valid cues can improve pupils'visual selective attention, and audual valid cues can't improve pupils'visual selective attention. This indicates it has competetion between visuality and auduality, pupils'visual attentional capture is a overall automatic progress.(5)The development condition of pupils'selective attention ability is an upward trend in the overall development, namely, the response latencies of Grade 4 is shorter than Grade 2 in the progress of attentional capture, there was significant difference between Grade 4 and Grade 2; While the response latencies of Grade 6 is shorter than Grade 4 in the progress of attentional capture, there was no significant difference between Grade 6 and Grade 4.
