Brutal Performance Of Life, Absurd Picture Of Survival

Mo Yan is the one that who have the most pioneer awareness and his own personality in the contemporary Chinese literature. Since the mid-eighties of the twentieth century, Mo Yan has still maintained a strong creative passion. In his twenty years of writing, he has published more than a hundred works. Lots of works have been translated into different languages in the word of more than twenty countries, which has attracted the readers'widely attention in both domestic and abroad. In his Culture Kingdom named"Northeast of Gao Mi Township", we not only fell the charm of traditional culture in china, at the same time, we also praise his encourage in the pursuit of pioneering spirit of modernism in his works. From the"Faerie Realistic Literature", which is expressed in the"Transparent carrot","Red Sorghum Family",to the modern narrative feeling, which is existed in the"Ball Lighting","Dry River","Explosion", and also to the expression of life consciousness and man's dissimilating situation in the"The Woman of Fat and Sex","The Excruciation of The Sandalwood".In his works, we always can breath the strong flavor of pioneer spirit.However, the interpretation of"The Excruciation of The Sandalwood"is always around the reference about the traditional Chinese culture, and its features of historical narratives, and also the modern theme of life consciousness and human's sense of alienation. But the meaning of"The Excruciation of The Sandalwood"does not stop there, it has profound significance. Especially the meticulous description of excruciation, it had aroused considerable controversy. Individuals own their mixed views. It has caused me great interest to the novel. I found that, the writing about excruciation of Mo Yan also concerned about the survival plight of absurdity and nothingness. So, I hope that I could understand his nihilism view of the world and life through the point of absurdity.My article tries to take the torture as the stating point. It contained such as the ugly aesthetics of excruciation, the survival plight of the executioner who is alienated, and as an anti-hero of Sun Bing's meaningless life, in order to reveal the absurd world that Mo Yan have been felt. At last, I hope that I can make a good understanding about Mo Yan's nihilism view of world, through my preliminary understanding of absurdity and nihilism.This article is divided into four parts:Chapterâ… : Through the ugliness as beauty show of ugly aesthetics of torture, Mo Yan express his view of human's absurd and meaningless living conditions. Mo Yan broke the traditional single aesthetic ideas, and expressed the ugly by a magnificent way, made the torture became a farce. This subversive narrative make the torture lose the meaning of violence and authority. This incompatibility and contradiction is the express of absurd.Chapterâ…¡: The alienated life and meaningless existence of executioner Zhao Jia, who losses the desires and emotions of human, separated himself from the human nature, have been reduced to a cold killing machine. All his efforts to survive are meaningless existence. The estrangement and separation between human and world constitute the absurdity of the world.Chapterâ…¢: The characteristics of anti-hero image of Sun Bing who is a victim of torture ,living in the world of absurdity. Through the understanding of the hero and anti-hero, I analyzed the anti-hero image features of Sun Bing. Notwithstanding the extraordinary courage and his noble excellent quality, he is unable to contend with the harsh reality. He has a strong spirit of resistance, but his behavior seems weird and funny. He can not overcome the limitations of his own, finally become the victim of the Absurd World.Chapterâ…£: The absurd and meaningless living conditions of human, and transcend of absurdity and nothingness. Hoping that through the understanding of the absurdity and nothingness, we can better understand Mo Yan's nihilistic view of the world, and realize the transcendence of absurdity and nihility.
