And they serve certain inclination of appreciation about literary works.By analyzing the character and image in one literary work, writer's background of creating this literary work and the literary work's artist value are able to come out naturally. This paper will explore the elements which affects Lewis's character and image construction in C.S.Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia.This paper is intended to explore the influential elements from three aspects.Bakhtin's dialogue theory is introduced, firstly, into helping to analyze the inter-connection between character and image in The Chronicles and its relative prototypal character and image in Bible. As one perspective to lead readers to come into imaginative Narnian world, this paper goes beyond figuring out what plots happened on those characters and images, also points out exactly influential elements from Lewis's childhood experience to his lifetime faith.Lewis's borrowing other stories which readers are familiar with and his narrative skill of direct address are the other two aspects this paper uses to explore his character and image construction elements. By borrowing the familiar stories or symbols, Lewis connected his creative his creative Narnian world with Pevensie's England as well as our reader's real world, in order to construct all the characters and images he needs in his seven Narnian books. Lewis's direct address is an absolute narrative way to enhance and enrich his character and image's characteristic and personality. Through using this specific narration skill, it also depicts a vivid pictures in reader's mind, therefore helps Lewis to construct his character and image in The Chronicles.The Chronicles can be approached from a couple of perspectives and angles.However, the character and image way is one of the most easy and nature way. These three aspects are this thesis'main body part which answers a thesis core question.
