Musical education plays an important role in quality education. With its unique function it can not be substituted by any other subject in the course of nurturing the 21st-century talents. As an elementary subject of musical education, sight-sing-and-ear-training subject has got unique educating function of its own. With the development of time and society, how to make sight-sing-and-ear-training subject popularized nationwide against the background of pluralistic music and meet the needs of changed times is an urgently-researched subject in the present sight-sing-and-ear-training educational system. In order to promote sight-sing-and-ear-training subject in modern musical education and make systematical and effective use of its function, it's of vital importance to establish modern sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching concept.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter focuses on the role of sight-sing-and-ear-training subject against the background of pluralistic music and introduces sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching value and social needs. Besides, this chapter illustrates various sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching theories both at home and abroad and analyses sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching status quo, proclaims the necessity of establishing modern sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching concept and sums up three most representative teaching theories. As a result, the second chapter to the fourth chapter deals with sight-sing-and-ear-training teaching theories respectively from these three angles. The first angle is national characteristics where way of thinking, musical vocabulary and human value of folk music are analysed in details. Thus, the author makes a conclusion that it's necessary to establish folk music teaching system when teaching sight-sing-and-ear-training subject. The second angle discusses cultural heritage. Since primitive society musical culture, as working people's collective creation, has witnessed human history and artistic achievements of various historical periods. As one element of culture, musical culture reveals essential features of a nation in a mobile way. As a medium of inheriting musical culture, sight-sing-and-ear-training subject is indispensable to contemporary musical education. The third angle is social responsibility from whose point of view to handle sight-sing-and-ear-training subject. The ultimate purpose of education is serving society. As man's spiritual creation and social ideology, music contains man's social contents which have to be changed with social development. On the one hand, music reflexes social and historical status quo. On the other hand, music depends on social political position and attitude. As an artistic form to express human emotion and serve social life, nowadays when quality education is highly called for, music displays its unique charming once again. How sight-sing-and-ear-training subject, as the"base"of music, incarnates social value of musical education and develops social musical life has formed the nuclear content we should care about.
