Sang Tong (1923 - ), formerly known as Jing-Qing Zhu, is a well-known composer, music theorist and educator in China."Nine Piano Pieces on Folk Song Themes" was his creation in the 1990s, when his works was even more mature and rational. This piece of Work uses traditional Chinese folk song theme tone, combined with chromatic composite harmony, complex tonality to show the content of music.By studying Professor Sang Tong's artistic career and his piano music, this paper analyze the characteristics of "Nine Piano Pieces on Folk Song Themes" in genre, harmony, mode and tonality, polyphony , as well as its pursuit of aesthetic characteristics, Analyze the creation of Sang Tong's Piano folk songs, and theoretically explore the new trends of piano song creation in the new age.Based on the knowledge of Mr. Sang Tong's creation of piano music, this paper mainly starts from the ontology of "Nine Piano Pieces on Folk Song Themes", analyze how he successfully mixed traditional western composing systems, modern harmony theory and Chinese traditional music together to create a works of art with a strong ethnic flavor, and a strong flavor of times. At the same time, based on this and combined with the development of Chinese contemporary piano music, writer will present his own knowledge and thinking.
