This dissertation discussed the theoretical basis, translation strategies, translation norms and quality control in Mongolian translation of Chinese movie and television under the guidance of the translation theories of movie and television.This dissertation is made up of four sections such as foreword, the text, the summary and references.The foreword mainly discussed about the background and meanings of selected topic, research status in the homeland and abroad, the arrangement of the text and methods used etc.The text is formed of three chapters. In the first chapter, the author attempts to demonstrate the literary features of movie and television translation from three aspects, as translation of title, lines and hidden lines respectively, on the theoretical basis that the translation of Movie and television is doomed to be part of literary translation, but it's kind of special literary translation. The most important part of this dissertation is the introduction of the two most commonly used strategies-subtitle translation and dubbing in part two and three. The second chapter is about subtitle translation of movie and television, refers to the supplementary explanation of the film characters'lines and related information which is displayed in the bottom of the screen when the movie and television is in play. Subtitle translation is the unique translation form of which the original lines and translated lines appear at the same time, and is inevitably limited in space and time etc. norms while restricted in language form. The excellent subtitle translation requires for the subtitle to be invisible, to reach the perfect unification of audio, pictures and visual effect. The author enumerated methods of translation under the condition of cultural default with combination of the principle of subtitle translation which is briefness, cultural transformation, and recreation. The third chapter is about one special strategy for subtitle translation, the dubbing. Dubbing is one kind of language art and a creative work, of which the voice actors build and perfect various vivid and distinct characters with their voice and language from behind the screen and microphone. In dubbing, the translation of the text for listening and writing is done first of all, due to the condition that it is the premise and foundation of subtitle translation and first-hand material for dubbing. The chapter enumerated several methods of the translation of text for listening and writing, such as additions and deletions of sentence elements, transformation of emotional colors, reconstruction of culture images, naturalization and creative translation of paronomasia.The conclusion is the summary of the whole dissertation and briefly discussed the principles, strategies and methods in Mongolian translation of Chinese movie and television.
