Forest ethic is not only an important part of environmental ethics, but also a significant ethical issue which needs to be studied urgently in the practices of the protection and use of the wildness area which is interdependent with urban environment, rural environment. In this paper, evolution of forest ethical idea is investigated, in the base of the United States land ethic and the American Forestry Association ethic code, forest ethic is explorated. The origin of forest ethic can be traced back to the simple"animism"and"natural organic theory"in the ancient times. And with the development of modern industry, the human-centred theory of"wise use"rises in the United States. Then, after the 20th century, with the acceletation of the world industrialization as well as the appearance of the global ecological crisis, the forest ethic and the multi-value-based management advocated by the forestry sector in the United States provide with great referent significance . First of all, the beliefs and attitudes of the forest ethic do not confine to the awe and respect of human beings only, but should also include the love and respect of nature. Second, the basic value point of forest ethic is neither anthropocentrism nor non-anthropocentrism, but the evolution of man and nature. Thus the principles of forest ethic will not only benefit human beings, but also should have the double-standard scale of benefiting human beings as well as being ecofriendly. Third, the norms of forest ethic should also include the ethical norms to be followed in the forest production, protection and construction of the ecological civilization.
