The Features And Guidance Of Pluralistic Culture Of Modern China

The developing tendency of the socio-culture of China at the present stage is showing a state of the co-existence of pluralistic cultures, with one in dominance. This is the inevitable result of the interaction among the three major trends (market-orientation, economic globalization and information network) during the social development of China in the late 20th century. Pluralistic culture coexistence is a kind of historic progress, reflecting the diversity of modern people's life style, as well as a normal development of the society for a considerably long historic period in future. The Pluralistic Culture brings challenges to the construction of the mainstream culture of China, the cohesion and charisma of the socialistic mainstream culture, and the formation of the values of collectivism and socialism, together with the faith in common.This thesis will, from different aspects and levels of pluralistic cultures, give a multileveled analysis on pluralistic cultures, including the further analysis on the multicultural co-existence tendency in China; their acculturation, inter-complement and interaction; as well as the vigor and dynamics brought by the multi-cultural tension of competition and coordination to the mainstream culture. Then the thesis will expound that, under such kind of situation, the residual thoughts of feudalism from the traditional culture and the decadent ideas from the foreign culture such as Mammonism, hedonism and extreme individualism, along with the omnipresent penetration of mass culture, are all competing for positions with our mainstream culture. At last, the thesis will make a thorough demonstration on the development of socialistic mainstream culture, that is, firstly, only if the socialistic mainstream culture enhances its own attraction and charisma with the scientific and healthy contents in a lively form and positive attitude and fights with all kinds of wrong ideas and thoughts can it occupy the ideological and cultural position and unite the majority of people under their own banner; secondly, under the guidance of the kernel value system of socialism, the mainstream culture should lead the development of pluralistic culture to guarantee their developing direction of socialism; and the conclusion that only through the communication and competition of different cultures, can the mainstream culture improve its competitiveness and supplement new current contents by learning from each other, which endows itself with inclusiveness, timeliness and capability of guidance, thus improve the harmonious coexistence of pluralistic cultures and lead to the great prosperity and development of China's culture.
