Fu Lei is an outstanding translator, an artistic critic as well as a connoisseur of art of modern times in China. He is versatile, whose knowledge covers that of China and of foreign countries, and has unique appreciation of art. He has ever made creative achievements in literature, painting, music and artistic theory, and especially has accomplished exquisite musical theory and successful experience in education. As a Chinese intellectual in the middle of the last century, many of his artistic ideas and cognition of traditional culture have an inspiring effect on developing today's Chinese music---whether composition, performance or education of it .In the thesis Fu Lei's musical thought is analyzed and studied in depth from the aspects of musical aestheticism, music criticism, musical education and the influence and value of his musical thought on today's society. In terms of his musical aestheticism, his expression of piano-performing skills, image of performance as well as his thought on the reform of China's musical development are researched; as regards his music criticism, his cognitions and criticisms of Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin are deeply studied, which makes us realize that a contemporary artist should possess the soul of a nation and positive optimistic pioneering spirit to pursue the supreme state of art ; as to his musical education, the paper lays emphasis on his educational thought of"first be a man, then an artist"and cultivating honest artists with pure hearts, which also makes us aware of a contemporary artist should be one with a high morality and superb art skills, holding an integral personality; Fu Lei's musical thought plays a significant and realistic role in modern music and society---it sounds a warning to current family education and musical development that Chinese of modern times should take root in Chinese ethnic culture.
