Chenhong, who is almost forgotten , is supposed to be an unforgetable musical educator and contributer of China's music advancement in the 20th century ,. He founded professional music education and normal music education for China, which is rarely known now for historical reasons,especially datas about his theory of education and practice on music. Facing all these , the writer ,on one hand, has collected some first handed datas through interviewing relevent people,seeking and gathering information from historical and documentory museums. On the other hand ,the writer also arranged out Chenhong's musical theory based on a combination of conclusion to senior scholars'research and Chen's own works. As an indirect junior student of the Cheng at the same time, he consulted his seniors broadly and worked out a systematic summery of Chen's educational practice on music in Nanjing Normal University. It is worthwhile to arrange out Chen's theory and practice on music, for it facilitates a further understanging to the 20th century's senior music education of China and has a positive enlightening influence toward the development of current normal music education in China.
