Luting He, an outstanding public musician in the twentieth century, has broughtnot only a huge amount of excellent music pieces, but also his spirit in hiscomposition as well as his great thoughts during his teaching experiences which madegreat contributions to the Chinese prosperity and development in building a bettermusical culture and education environment.He’s educational thought is social and historical because it came from thebackground at that time and served to the society that time. Meanwhile, it’s artisticunique for aiming at the music subject. Thus, people should interpret his idea by themethods of the materialism and dialectic. His musical idea is inseparable from hisexperience in music education and historical background. His music education theoryis overall and vivid including the metaphysical structure and the accessible operation.It involves teaching democratically and publication of spirit in music, which is fullyreflected in democracy and popularity. The all-round flexible system and spirit putemphasis on strategy on national music, combining the advantages in eastern andwestern music.Through taking action like making use of the good points in nationalmusic, asking for musicians who specialize in folk music, he showed his depththought in value of folk music to inherit and innovate it better. Mixed scientificresearch, teaching and practice together, his strategy makes sure of the characteristicof artistic and scientific as well as the development in this music area.What’s morevaluable is his criteria in selection talented people, which weighs the quality betterthan the quantity. Again, all of his strategy showed his character, as a musician shouldhave: upholding talented people and continuing the inhering high-quality musicdevelopment.He persist in setting strict demands on talent.By intercepting He’s music education theory speculatively, his rationalconstructor is strongly connected with his social and historical background. Therefore,there are some limitations of his thought reflected in macro and micro and the lack ofreliability operability and considerations of the goal. In general, the understanding ofHe’s theory is conducive to the excavation of its practical significance, thereby inheritand innovate its theory to make useful guidance on creating a new situation of the music education.
