As a result of the special geographical environment and the history of national migration of Taliang and Hsiaoliang Mountains, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture was in slave society before the middle period of 20th century. The traditional culture of Yi Nationality has been kept for thousands of years which formed the unsophisticated style and feature. Lacquerwares produced by Liangshan Yi Nationality are specially provided with distinctive national features and particular charm which have become valuable cultural resources for promoting Liangshan economic growth.Nowadays many people only make studies on lacquerware production method and art characteristics of Liangshan Yi Nationality.
