Yi lacquerware is a national intangible cultural heritage in China.Based on the analysis of the pattern modeling image of lacquerware, this paper discusses the modern inheritance and development of lacquerware painting skills, and interprets the inheritance and change of lacquerware in contemporary folk cultural value. On the basis of data and literature collection, through many field visits to Xide County, the birthplace of lacquerware, and oral historical interviews with national inheritors, this paper comprehensively investigates the development status of Yi lacquerware in Xide County, analyzes the relationship between artistic changes and social changes, and summarizes the inheritance and development experience of Yi lacquerware,It also provides theoretical basis and practical reference for the inheritance and development of folk handicrafts of ethnic minorities. This study concludes that the preference of black, red and yellow colors reflects the ethnic cultural psychology of the Yi people. The main characteristics of the patterns are as follows:1.Abstraction;2.Totem worship; The modeling feature is the integrity of matching and pairing. As an intangible cultural heritage, the changes of painting production technology in the process of modernization are mainly reflected in the industrialization and industrialization, and are no longer limited to the traditional family inheritance mode.Inheritors are also catering to the changes of the public' s aesthetic taste, and are constantly innovating in the modeling and aesthetics of patterns. There are three main changes in the inheritance of the cultural value of Yi lacquerware:the change of pattern and modeling, the change of production technology and the change of inheritance way.Opportunities and challenges coexist in the development of lacquerware—policy support, good market environment and the prosperity of tourism all provide excellent soil for the development of lacquerware. But at the same time, there are also some problems to be solved, such as the intergenerational transfer of inheritors, the lack of new generations, the market chaos caused by the abuse of cultural resources, and the shortage of raw lacquer and wood resources.
