During the simultaneous development with the foreigners period, it was a new phase for north-west nations relationships in the Song dynasty. The Gusiluo regime, built by Hehuang Tibetan, was becoming the object of Song, Xia, Liao regime to strive for harmony for the important geographical location. So, the ethnic relationship was very complex between the Gusiluo regime and the ethnics around. In this thesis, the ethnic relationships between the Gusiluo regime and the Song, Xia, and Liao regime were analyzed.Friendship and peace were the main melody between Gusiluo regime and Song dynasty and this was shown in the following three aspects:1. Politics: The Gusiluo regime attached to the Song dynasty actively in order to resist their counterpart—the Dangxiang regime. The Song dynasty tempered justice with mercy, conferring a title and Chinese name upon the leader of the Gusiluo. This formed a closed alliance.2. Economy: The trade between the two regimes became more frequent by exchanging of tributing, granting, and'Hushi'. The development of trade had a great influence on culture, life and military necessities.3. Military: The two regimes coordinated armed forces with each other, which pinned down the Xixia army.Wars and alliances appeared between the Gusiluo regime and Diangxiang at different periods with the process of the war between the Song dynasty and Xixia regime. The Gusiluo regime once built a closed relationship with the Qidan. The significant sign was the hypogamy between the Qidan princess and Dongzhan. It was also a strategy of Qidan to be supported by the Gusiluo regime and resist the increasing powerful Xixia regime. The changes of relationships between the Gusiluo regime and other nationalities were influenced by not only its inner economic origin, but also the outer factors, such as conflicts between other nations. On one hand, the Gusiluo regime were strongly relied on the Song dynasty because of their unique characters of nomadic economy: non-security, unstable, hearty requirement to necessaries from the Song dynasty. On the other hand, the main conflicts between the Song dynasty and Xixia impacted the adjustments of relationships between the Gusiluo regime and other nationalities around.
