English is a foreign language for us, so English reading appears more important, through which we can strengthen and broaden English language knowledge, inquire about local conditions and customs in English countries and understand the English culture. Therefore, reading plays an important part in language learning, and in the college English teaching of our country, reading is the course which is paid the greatest attention to all the time. Simultaneously, reading comprehension test accounts for a considerable proportion of the CET-4.After the reform, the new CET-4 puts emphasis on the test of students' language proficiency. From the types of questions to the process of examination, the total difficulty of the test has elevated a little more. Therefore, how to adapt to new CET-4 is a common concern between teachers and students. We should not only improve students'language proficiency effectively, but we also need to help students pass the test successfully. Examination is not the purpose, but to some extent, it has a backwash effect on teaching. Reading comprehension in CET-4 is focused on in this current study. This study ensures that students can get the most optimal learning programs and test-taking strategies and their comprehensive abilities of using English language can be improved.Test-taking strategies are defined as those test-taking processes which test takers have selected and which they are conscious of, at least to some degree. These test-taking strategies mainly involve language use strategies and test wiseness strategies.Totally 83 non-English majors at Shenyang Normal University are chosen as the subjects. They are divided into experimental class and control class. Students in experimental class have received the study and training of test-taking strategies for reading for 15 weeks, and their post-test scores of reading comprehension test are generally higher than those of students in control class. According to the questionnaire of the test-taking strategies application, more students in experimental class than those in control class would like to adopt the test-taking strategies relative to the questions when they were taking reading comprehension test. These test-taking strategies applied are mainly the language use strategies, and it means that students have known how to deal with the tests in order to get high marks; at the same time, their language proficiency has been improved to some extent.
