Research On The Fu Prefaces Of Han Wei And Six Dynasties

This thesis studies the Fu Prefaces during the Han Wei and Six Dynasties lasting for eight hundred years. As a special genre of Chinese ancient literature, Fu Preface is derived from the development and natural mergence of two literary styles"Fu"and"Preface", which has its own creation, development, maturity, and decline stages with its unique features both in literary style and content compared with Fu. Some of the Fu Prefaces are of high research values. According to the Fu Prefaces of the Han Wei and Six Dynasties the writer collected, the thesis discusses the features and special values of Fu Prefaces in four chapters.Chapterâ… is about the introduction of Fu Prefaces in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties. the development of Fu Prefaces in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties is discussed based on the developments of Preface and Fu styles, and the functions of Fu Prefaces is summarized.Chapterâ…¡discusses the style features of Fu Preface in Han Wei and Six Dynasties. In this chapter the styles of Fu Preface in each stage of Han Wei and Six Dynasties are analyzed. Fu Prefaces of Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, of Wei and Jin Dynasties, and of the Southern Dynasty have their own features in numbers, volumes and languages. Then the reasons for the changes of Fu Prefaces in Han Wei and Six Dynasties are discussed: both the developments of Fu and the Fu criticism influenced Fu Preface during its development.Chapterâ…¢is about the criticism of Fu Prefaces in Han Wei and Six Dynasties. Fu Criticism plays a significant part in studing Fu Preface. The writers'summary of the creating experience and the understanding of Fu in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties is expressed through Fu Preface. The origin, funtions, and style of Fu and the understanding to certain Fu works, etc, all expresses some features of that age.Chapterâ…£discusses the values of Fu Prefaces in Han Wei and Six Dynasties. The contents of Fu Prefaces of those times are concerned with the writer's life, creative activities, the society, the history, the culture and the custom of that time, displaying the living conditions and social environments from all aspects of those times, therefore they are of great researching values. This chapter generally summarized the literary values and custom values of these Fu Prefaces. The Han Wei and Six Dynasties are not only the thriving periods of Fu, but also the developing periods of Fu Preface. Most scholars pay attention to Fu Preface, and regard it as the carrier to express their opinions on Fu studies. With Fu Prefaces in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties as the researching objects, through studying their styles, contents, and values, we could feel that Fu Preface, as a literary genre, has its own features as well as the important values in researching literature and folk customs.
