A Study On The Protection And Utilization Of Celebrities' Former Residences In Kaifeng

Kaifeng, known as"the Capitals of Seven Dynasties"and one of"the eight ancient Chinese capitals", was among the first batch of historical cultural cities that public announced by State Council of china, mirrored rich lasting appeal of culture and history. As the political and cultural center of central plain area before and at the beginning of liberation, Kaifeng witnessed many crucial historic events, and was chosen by many celebrities to reside then. The number and influence of celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng was head the list in Henan province. These residences themselves were records of history and important part of historical cultural city of Kaifeng. They were also priceless resources of culture. Recent years, many celebrities'former residences faced crisis. For those celebrities'former residences that belong to cultural relics protection units, the protection was comparably good, somehow, they were still lacking of professional management and research, and their worth was not dug reasonably and sufficiently; for those not, on one hand, most of them were scattered in big and small lanes that visitors seldom noticed and arrived; on the other hand, they were of different damaged conditions; worst of all, they would be pull down anytime to clear space for new buildings, some of them were reduced to ruin already. These residences were carriers of both material culture and nonmaterial culture. They were also nonrenewable cultural resources. The damage of them brought severe negative influence on the historic scenes of the old city, caused the losing of precious memoires, and weakened the motivation and power of development in Kaifeng. Thus, On the basis of"Central Plains economic zone accelerate the development of culture, integrated development of Zhengzhou-Kaifeng and Song-city cultural park promote cultural resources",the protection and utilization for celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng became an urgent research issue. Based on the existing successful cases of protecting and utilizing celebrities'former residences both home and abroad, and the realization in Kaifeng, we proposed new views on protecting and utilizing strategies.The paper adopted documentary method, field survey method, etc, to define the concept of celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng and other related concepts, summarize the historic, cultural emotional, artistic, scientific utilization value of these residences, and expound that protecting and utilizing celebrities'former residences was meaningful to construct Kaifeng into a historic cultural city. The paper also analyzed the statistics of the current situation of celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng, got the spatial distribution features, and the shortcomings, such as lacking of understanding, management and funds in the protection and utilization. Analyzed and consulted the policies, management mode, adequate and systematic service in the protection and utilization for the architectural heritage of the celebrities'former residences at home and abroad, we proposed the standard and the system of the value evaluation for celebrities'former residences. The paper also pointed out the shortcomings in current policy, law, management and propaganda in the protection and utilization, proposed the assumption that we give categorized protection to those celebrities'former residences that not a cultural relics protection unit yet by the results of value evaluation. The protection and utilization of celebrities'former residences is based on connected engineering and technology. There are contrast and analogy connection, authenticity connection and explanation connection in the relation between the new and the old about the celebrities'former residences. That broadens the idea of the utilization of celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng. A combination of theory and reality led to the total utilization conceit of celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng. This paper suggested"Shuanglong alley-Shuangjin street-Chaoyang alley"should be constructed to be"cultural street for celebrities", the former of Feng-rukui should be rebuilt, by building the value of"feeling, scene and implying"of the celebrities'former residences accelerate historical tourist industry of Kaifeng. For those celebrities'former residences that hard to keep, the paper suggested we collect and keep them at a special place in the western new city of Kaifeng. The paper also provided specific map of the celebrities'former residences in Kaifeng.
