Beijing Old Town Conservation And Utilization Of Former Residences Of Celebrities

Beijing is the world's famous historical and cultural city with a city's history of more than 3,000 years, a capital's history of more than 800 years. Beijing, capital of P. R. China, is the political and cultural center of our country.It is one of China's hot spot for celebrities. The number and the influence of Beijing's celebrities' former residences rank first in China. The celebrities' former residences mainly concentrate in the old city of Beijing. They once were the sites where many significant events happened. They record Beijing's history. They have important historical value, cultural value and so on.They are the important component of Beijing. They are unceasingly deepening and thinning Beijing's connotation. However, with the emergence and rapid development of the real estate industry, the celebrities' former residences mostly are facing the misfortune fate. Not only this non-renewable human resources of celebrities' former residences and the historical and cultural city's style are influenced badly, it also brings some social questions to the city. Therefore, how to take the People's Olympic Games as the turning point, protcting and utilizing the celebrities' former residences already become an imminent issue. The author investigates and analyzes the question, and tries to solve it. Many specialized knowledge and some statistical analysis method were applied. The research to the celebrities' former residences' protection and the utilization was conducted. The countermeasure to protection and utilization were proposed. Also the author has carried on some explorations for the quantificational research of historical and cultural resources. The paper consists of 6 parts. The author narrates this paper's research background, the domestic celebrities' former residences' condition, the research method and so on in the first part. The second part is the general intruduction to celebrities' former residences in old city of Beijing. This part defines the standard of "the celebrity", "the former residences", "the celebrities' former residences", identifies the celebrities, dissertates the value of celebrities' former residences in old city of Beijing. The third part is present situation of the preservation and utilization for celebrities' former residences in the old city of Beijing. After several months' investigation, the author announces the number of celebrities' former residences, then analyzes the present situation of the protection and the utilization with some statistical graphs. The fourth part explores the facing questions in the process of preservating and utilizating the celebrities' former residences. The fifth part is the experiences and models at home and abroad. The author outlines the models in some European countries and in America, as well as the experience of Tianjin, Shanghai, Shaoxing, and Hangzhou. The sixth part is the countermeasure. Aiming at the present situation and the questions, the author makes homogeneity analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis, consulting the models at home and abroad, the author gives some suggestions for preservating and utilizating celebrities' former residences in old city of Beijing.
