Since the mid-20th century, scholars abroad have regarded researches on teaching staff pressure as priority in the field of educational psychology. With 173 teachers from 14 secondary schools in Fenghuang County as the subjects of the research, this paper attempts to study the correlations between professional stress and mental healthas well as focuses on how professional stress, under the social supports, influences the mental health of the middle school teachers in western Hunan. The results were as follows:1. Pressures, resulting from nationality, marriage, title, teaching grades, differences between urban and rural areas, and teaching in public or private schools, have significant or substantial influences on the professional stress and mental health of the middle school teachers in western Hunan. Of course, some pressure from the pressure source→Mental Health→career path, that is, some of the pressure source is an indirect impact on mental health.2. The professional stress has an apparent influence on the mental health of the middle school teachers in western Hunan (including the self-rating depression), especially has a remarkable impact on the degree of self-evaluated depression. That is to said that mental health includes many factors, and depression smaller range, so that the Hmong have a working pressure of secondary school teachers, will lead to the direct effects of depression, and on mental health, directly or indirectly.3. Supports from the society have significant or substantial influences on the mental health and depression assessment. Good social support can alleviate the pressure of high school vocational teachers, reduce depression and improve mental health quality level of the secondary teachers Miao Nationality in Western Hunan.4, Mental health the secondary school teachers of Miao Nationality in Western Hunan is not optimistic. The results show that the extent of mental health from the "no", "very light", "mild to moderate," "moderate to severe," "severe" were 5.1%,15.4%,37.7%,34.4%, 7.3% , which existing psychological problems, accounted for 79.4.To relieve the employment pressure of the secondary school teachers in western Hunan and improve their mental health, teachers themselves should try to learn and take effective measures to deal with stresses. Meanwhile, management departments of schools should put the actual situation into consideration and show their understanding and supports to the teaching staff. Besides, the administration department of education should attach great importance to contribute to relieving pressures with providing psychological counseling and counseling centers for the teachers. Therefore, it will make great contribution to instruction improvement and management efficiency, as well as the enhancement of the education reform, cultivation of talents and the building of a harmonious society as a whole.
