What is man as the Riddle of the Sphinx confusing us from the beginning of philosophy? Different persons give many various answers from their perspectives. In one fundamental sense, it is vital for us to pursue human nature in the form of philosophy. During the period of ancient Greece, philosophers reached the ignorant understanding of human nature. Then philosophers changed to explored the spirit world in modern times. After German classical philosophy, modern philosophy regarded the meaning and values of human beings as the center. In this sense, the development of philosophy undergoes a course of self-awareness. However, these theories are the abstract definition of human nature and make a distinction between human and animals. So, these theories are one-sided not comprehensive. When once involved in history, they will fall into idealism. Marx who defines human nature from the perspective of historical materialism trigger the Copernican Revolution in the history of philosophy, which exceeds the abstract definition of old materialism and idealism. However, Marx's theory of human nature also undergoes a process, not de facto existence from the beginning. This thesis sets out from Marx's theory of human nature and not only finds out Marx's different definitions of human nature in the different periods, and but also works out the different perspectives of Marx. To grasp the logical process of these definitions. starts from the perspective of Marx's human nature theory, and researches the different definitions in different periods. The purpose is to reveal the changing process from ideal to reality, and show deep concern on human existence, which indicates that the anxiety about human survival is the subject of philosophy. The scientific study of Marx's human nature has the important meaning in the aspect of deepening and promoting Marxist theory.
