The Comparative Analysis Of Chinese And English Negative Structures

Negation is a common linguistic phenomenon. It is essential to use the right form of negation to maintain good relationship with others. Due to the different cultures between Chinese and English, there are still many difficulties in understanding, translation and usage. Especially in the intercultural communication, the target language's negative expression if get an improper understanding or using, which often cause the communication mistakes or disruption. So in order to overcome this difficulty, we must have an outlook of the negation and find their same as well different between the two languages. Comparison is not only the important way for human to cognitive the world, but also one of the significant method of language research. The comparison in language study, can be in the same language, also can be in different language; can be diachronic, also can be synchronic. As to the comparative study, it is for two or two more languages synchronic contrastive study, describing their similarities and differences, especially the differences, and in order to promote more research to the comparison between different languages, and provide the theoretical guidance for language teaching and the communication between different countries. This article aims to adopt comparison on the differences of Chinese and English's negative structures. There are several different negative forms: general negation and special negation, double negation, partial negation and full negation, as well as transfer negation, finding the distinction between the two languages and in the end promoting the interaction of people who lives in different background.
