On The Narrative Model Of New-historical Novel

In the end of 1980s, with the transformation of contemporary Chinese society and the laxity of political and ideological norms, the writers initiate a trend of creating new historical novels. In the new historical and cultural consciousness of history on personal, writers subvert the narrative style in the traditional historical novel, restoring historical complex morphology, expressing individual emotion and cultural ideal. With the analysis of Narratology, the new historical novels show some prominent features in narrative theme, narrative structure, narrative point of view and narrative form.In this paper, the first chapter discusses the narrative theme of new historical novel about the reflection of revolution, the pursuing of spiritual home and the thinking about human's existence. The second chapter analyses the narrative structure in the new historical novels. New historical novels discard traditional methods in using the stories and conflicts to construct a novel, adopting interlaced a backbone and some branches, connecting ordinate and horizontal ordinate, in series and gathering together for the narrating structure. The third chapter analyses the narrative point of view in the new historical novels.New historical novel is no longer limited to all-knowing narrative point of view, changing to the limited point of view, as the first person "I" or "the third person" substitute for the narrative point of view. The fourth chapter analyses the narrative form of new historical novel. New historical novelists express their personal experience in writing, and actively absorb nutrition of folk art, emphasis the rhetorical effect in text, put up irony and allegorized artistic form.The New historical novel has drawbacks, but the innovation on its narrating is still a great progress for Chinese historical novel.
