There is a variety of convergence effects between design and its culture in which it is gestated and nourished; intertextuality is deeply rooted in the individuality of the text. Reflection on design from this perspective accords with the interactions between weeding out the new from the old and tracing to the root, and thus to propose an exploration directed at modern design. Moreover, the study on intertectuality in design emancipates the acknowlegement of Chinese culture from the quotation and duplication of traditional conceptions, which should become the foundation, instead of the purpose, of reconsidering design. Accordingly, we should return these conceptions to reality, espcially the current reality, to interpret the significance of"giving up affectation, and returning to nature".The introduction of intertextuality broadens the approaches to design and we can understand the details how design works are conceived, created and implemented. Intertextuality grants design with a collective expierence and momeroy of continuity and commonality.
