Research On Chinese Verb's Overlapping In The Field Of Teaching Chinese As A Second Language

The verb's overlapping is unavoidable in our social communications. The learners who study Chinese as a second language would cause many errors when using verbs'overlapping forms. The essay considered the ways to help students manipulate this kind of form as an important task.The whole research of this essay was established on the base of TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language). We did a research on the 8821 common words which should be learnt according to the Rank Program of Chinese vocabulary and Characters, and assorted the words which can be overlapped into different overlapping forms. Then we collected and analyzed former studies on verb's overlapping by some scholars from the domain of Chinese grammar study. And then we tried to conclude a grammar system which was suitable for TCSL. This grammar system includes the reason why a verb can be overlapped while another one can't, different forms and grammatical meanings of those overlapped verbs, and the restricts to the use of verb's overlapping form.Another innovation of this essay is that it did an error analysis. The materials were from the Search System of HSK Foreign Students' High-level Composition Corpus. This system was established by CLIP. There are 122 misuses of verbs' overlapping forms in all 117 sentences. We analyzed those errors and tried to figure out the reasons that had caused those errors. In my opinion, the reasons may lie in some aspects of teaching, such as the problems of teaching materials, teachers' teaching methods and the problems of students'Second Language Acquisition. After that, we put forward some means which focus on the three aspects we mentioned above, in order to lower the rate of this kind of misuse. We hope this essay can be worthwhile to the teaching of Chinese verb's overlapping in the field ofTCSL.
