Characteristics Of Yamato Aesthetic On Hayao Miyazaki's Animated Films

Hayao Miyazaki, who's said the Poetry of Animation, is the peak of Japanese's cartoon. He adds deep humanistic care and environmental awareness to animation, which is thought to be the kids'. Because of the inner and external characteristics of Japanese culture in his cartoon, he becomes the symbol of national culture, prided by the Japanese.There is a close connection between cartoon and culture. Full of the Japanese flavor, Hayao Miyazaki's movies show evident characteristics of Yamato aesthetic. Forest thought, trust in spirit, and the beauty of heart are the three obvious aspects in his animation.From the angle of animation, culture, and Yamato aesthetic, this paper uses theories of culturology, aesthetic, filmology, and combines the method of decoding the film text with deducing the theories. It analyses the representing movies of Hayao Miyazaki, and research the characteristics of Yamato aesthetic in the animation. The first part introduces Hayao Miyazaki's personal experiences, his movies, and the animations those have strong impact on him. In the second part, from the aspect of the relationship between cartoon and culture, it thinks Hayao Miyazaki himself and his movies are strongly connected with the Japanese culture and Yamato aesthetic. The third part, analysises the forest thought in Hayao Miyazaki's movies, it contains three aspects:forest adoring, plant apprasing, and forest destructing. The forth part research the thought formation of Japanese's, and analysis the spirit world, what's more, read the thought of adoring spirit. The fifth part, is about the culture of heart of Japanese, and the connection of human-beings and nature, and the beauty of heart.
