This dissertation is an instructional design which is based on the research of Chinese middle construction, which is an important grammar point in the Chinese teaching, and also it is the one that the students do not master easily. In view of this problem, the paper focuses on the research on the middle constructions in Mandarin. It goes in the following parts:the definition of the Chinese middles;two types of the middles with its internal differences; the features of the constructions by exploring its three constituents, e. g. whether the patient (NP) and the implicit agent are definite or indefinite; the grammatical constituent of the middle VP:the selectional restriction of the middle verbs and adjectives in the constructions; the different semantic restrictions between the property-denoting "middles" and the passive constructions etc. Based on these research, the author make an instructional design to the foreign middle school students.
