The Seven Sisters is a novel of Margaret Drabble. It focuses on the pursuing theme of finding self-values and pursuing a better life. When we are aging and people are no longer relying on us, what else do we have except the wrinkles and old bodies? How do we live on? Walking towards death unconsciously or having a rebirth? Rebirth is the theme of The Seven Sisters. This is the first thesis to discuss the rebirth theme of this novel, so it will be a beneficial supplement and new exploration of the study of Drabble's works in the critic circles, by using the theory of"point of view"to analyze the process of rebirth, and summarize the meaning of life and humanistic care. This thesis can be divided into five parts: the introduction, three chapters as the main body and the conclusion.Chapter One is titled"Life's Dilemma". It presents people's desperate struggling by describing the psychological"wasteland"of Candida and the people around her. The interpretation from the spatial-temporal point of view can help readers understand the despair and sadness.Chapter Two is titled"Searching and Redemption". It discusses two ways to redeem oneself, searching for the self identification and a soul's journey. It is mainly about the searching process.Chapter Three is titled"Rebirth and Regression". It explains from two aspects: the image of rebirth and the regression after the rebirth. The interpretation from the perceptual and ideological point of view makes the image of rebirth and its symbolization more obvious and significant. The regression after the rebirth surpasses the level of the reality. This thesis reaches the conclusion that life is a circle which constitutes dilemma, redemption and rebirth. A new dilemma proceeds an old dilemma. The most profound embodiment of life lies in the continuous surpassing the constraints of the natural body and social environment to achieve the pure ego and the metaphysical existence. In application of the theory of"point of view", the analysis is benefit to highlighting the theme. Furthermore, the readers may have a better understanding of the text and the intention of the author.
