Xunxian mud cuckoo was included in the first batch of national nonmaterial culture heritage protection list approved by the State Council in May, 2006.According to Mr.Zhang Daoyi's classification method in the"Art Length of the Recorded", Xunxian mud cuckoo should belong to colorful sculpture from the aspect of visual art style; From the pragmatic functional point of view, Xunxian mud cuckoo should be a kind of folk clay toys generally called"playing goods", however, from the aspect of art, it should belong to folk Fine Arts. Therefore, Xunxian mud cuckoo should belong to folk art.This topic aims to study the regional adornment art features of Xunxian mud cuckoo deeply from three major aspects of decorative patters ,color characteristics and sculpting features.Next,we discover the profound cultural connotation ,explore the important influence of life faith , creation concept , aesthetic value orientation and other factors on forming Xunxian mud cuckoo with its folk and regional characteristic.This paper mainly adopts the fieldwork method ,document analysis, physical research methods. Above all, we conduct an objective , systematic research on the basis of data collected by reading a large number of books ,newspapers , periodicals and lots of information on internet ,more importantly ,go to local county and do on-the-spot investigation.Xunxian mud is under the deep influence of culture from primitive to modern times, and its characteristic of regional decorative art is closely related with human cultural awareness. Xunxian mud cuckoo is not only under the influence of original thinking, concept of traditional Chinese philosophy, belief customs, and other factors, carrys plenty of traditional culture information ,but also full of local unique culture connotation, therefore , it becomes an important kind of physical image historic material for studying the politics ,economic, culture and art at that time.In addition, Xunxian mud cuckoo is full of vitality and vigor , so it provides a lot of information for modern art creation.
