With modern multimedia technology and network technology development, teaching model of university class has undergone profound changes. College English visual-audio-oral class is a new arising class model under this change. College English VAO course is a practical lingual curriculum that coalesces the seeing, listening, and speaking by using modern electronic equipments. It makes full use of multimedia and network technology, setting text, audio, images, animation at an organic whole. The VAO course nurtures the students'comprehension and expression ability of various audio-visual materials in the real communication occasions so that it can improve the students' language actual use of competence and communicative ability. In the VAO teaching practice, the writer found that some students were interested in a variety of video clips, and their listening and communication skills did not improve significantly with the video input. The author found that the emergence of this phenomenon is mainly because some students lack the necessary motivation to learn and do not know how to control their own learning motivation. These problems of motivation affected the college VAO English teaching and learning a lot, which restricted students in their VAO academic achievement. Based on the existing motivational problems in VAO English teaching and learning, and the status quo of learning motivation researches, this dissertation intends to study and analyze teacher's influence on learners'learning motivation, and explore the available motivational strategies which can be effectively applied in VAO class.In this dissertation, the writer presented the features of college English VAO class and the motivation theories as well as their enlightenments in VAO English teaching and learning. A questionnaire survey was conducted by the writer by the purpose of identifying learners'motivation in VAO class. The SPSS correlated analysis of the statistical data showed that students'classroom performance has a close relationship with their internal motivation. Grounded on the analysis of motivational theories, the related findings in the survey and the writer's teaching practices, how teachers use a variety of motivational strategies to stimulate, improve and maintain learners'learning motivation was discussed in this dissertation. Through the comparison between the pre-test result and post-test result in control group and experimental group, the writer found that the motivational strategies can be taught and learned in VAO English class. So, to VAO English class participants (teachers and students), mastering a certain amount of motivational strategies benefits a lot.
